Quest 2 Lenses

Quest 2 Prescription Lenses

Categories:

I like to play VR games but as someone who needs glasses to see, I often find myself struggling with trying to fit them comfortably underneath a headset. So I made a pair of snap-on prescription lenses.

Wrong Purchase

While there are commercially made prescription lenses designed specifically for my Quest 2 but they were a little too pricey for me. I tried to buy cheaper alternatives from Aliexpress but unfortunately they delivered lenses made for a different headset so I returned them. I then remembered I had some prescription lenses I wasn’t using anymore.

My Version

Combining Martunex’s Quest 2 Glasses Spacer and my 3D printed glasses, I created my 3D printed adapters. I found that as they weren’t going to be put under a lot of force, I could design the glass lenses to snap in under 2 tabs instead of worrying about making a full frame around them. The shape of the lenses didn’t match the headset so I tried to position them to maximise viewing angles.

While I had a lot of complaints about by 3D printed glasses, these snap-on lenses worked flawlessly. The incomplete coverage of the headset displays was unnoticeable when wearing it, the lenses did not protrude far enough to rub against my eyes and they did not rattle or fall out. When sharing the headset, they easily come on and off.

As these are designed for my very specific glasses, I will not be sharing the models.
